A journey through 1960s Southern and Western Region steam
Experience the climb out of Weymouth through Upwey and Bincombe tunnel with typical steam stock of the period
Explore the Layout
The layout is based on the climb out of Weymouth through Upwey and Bincombe tunnel. It is set in 1960 and features typical Southern and Western steam stock of the period. A few diesels are beginning to appear.
The station has a goods yard and small shed to service the Abbotsbury branch which is obviously much more successful in model form than it was in real life!
This layout is set on the line between Weymouth and Dorchester and depicts mainline steam working hard through Upwey Junction and Bincombe tunnels. The branch to Abbotsbury provides additional activity.

Watch the Upwey Junction layout in operation
The Upwey Junction layout has been displayed at various model railway exhibitions. Please check back for future exhibition dates and locations.
We aim to keep a steady stream of trains on the mainline with additional activity on the branch and in the yard. We normally operate with a team of 5-6 operators.
